Late rally comes up short vs. Millsaps, 11-10

ROME, Ga. – The Berry College Vikings fell to the Millsaps College Majors, 11-10, on Sunday afternoon. 

With the loss, the Vikings move to 7-4 on the year with a Southern Athletic Association record of 1-2.  After winning the rubber game of the series, the Majors improved to 5-2 on the year with a 2-1 conference record. 

The Vikings left the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth and the seventh.  In the eighth, the Vikings lit up the scoreboard with six runs, but it was not enough to defeat the Majors. 

Alfred Francis went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and 2 RBI. Alex McGill and Ben Jernigan also contributed 2-for-4 games at the plate for the Vikes.

Berry was felled by 4 errors and gave up 6 unearned runs in the contest. Viking starter TJ Montgomery took the defeat and dropped to 1-2 for the year. He pitched 2 innings and allowed 6 runs (3 earned).

Both clubs recorded 13 hits in the contest. The Majors' offense got home runs from JT Blair and William Chenoweth. Chenoweth went 4-5 in the game.

Berry will play their next game on Tuesday at LaGrange. First pitch is at 6 p.m.
