Berry takes season series versus LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. - - Will Estes got the win and Grant Perkins had 2 hits as the Berry College baseball team took the season series against LaGrange with their 6-2 victory Tuesday afternoon.

The win improved the Vikings to 8-4 on the season. The loss dropped the Panthers to 3-8.

Estes improved his record to a perfect 2-0. He pitched 5 innings--allowing only 2 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and a strikeout.

Berry outhit LaGrange, 7-6. Perkins was 2-for-4 at the plate. He reached base on a single up the middle in the 3rd and then tripled in the 9th and scored on a sac fly from Dusty Tyson.

Berry took their first lead of the game in the 4th inning when Ben Jernigan scored on Ryan Smith's sac fly to right field and put the Vikings ahead 1-0. The Panther's Chad Pigg, however, scored the next half inning on an error, keeping the game tied at one apiece.

Jernigan later hit a double into right field to bring in Alfred Francis and Tyson, which put the Vikings up 3-1. BC brought in insurance runs in the final two innings to close out the 6-2 win.

Tyler Brooks pinned the loss for LaGrange. Brooks threw 5 innings, giving up 4 hits, and 2 earned runs. Casey Bell led the Panthers on the afternoon with 2 hits and a run scored.

BC will take on Transylvania in a doubleheader at home on Saturday at 1 p.m.​
