Hope Baseball Falls To Oswego State, Suffers First Loss

The Hope College baseball team suffered its first loss of the season with a 12-1 defeat to Oswego (N.Y.) State on Monday in Winter Haven, Florida.

The Flying Dutchmen (2-1 overall) will look to rebound on Tuesday during a doubleheader against Grinnell (Iowa).

Four different players totaled four hits for Hope, including senior second baseman Devin Schaefers of Lake Forest, California (El Toro HS). Schaefers knocked in sophomore centerfielder Jack Twitty of Rochester, Michigan (Adams HS), with a third-inning single.

Oswego State (6-3) broke open the game with a seven-run third for a 9-1 lead.
