FORT MYERS, Fla. - The University of Dubuque baseball team recorded nine hits but were limited to two runs in 4-2 defeat to Manchester in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Centerfielder Daniel Casanova, LF Trace Florek, and DH Dalton Garst each recorded two hits to lead the way for the Spartans (4-5), who have dropped five of their last six after sweeping Elmhurst to start the season. A pair of RBIs by Casanova and Florek in the top of the 5th tied the game up at 2-2. Manchester (6-3), also the Spartans, responded with two runs in the bottom of the 6th to seize their final lead.

Manchester starter, Jake Miller (1-0), silenced UD's bats the rest of the way and finished the game allowing nine hits, two runs (both earned), and striking out two.

On the bump for UD was P Jacob Padilla (1-1) who threw a strong 8.0 innings and surrendered eight hits, four runs (two earned), with two strikeouts.
