WINTER HAVEN, FL. - The Union College baseball team wrapped up their spring break trip to Florida with a doubleheader spilt against RPI on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen took the first game by a score of 9-5 before losing the second contest 11-1.

Sophomore Adam Ashenfarb picked up his second win of the season in game one, working 6+ innings allowing five runs (3 ER) on six hits. Ashenfarb struck out four and walked just one.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Union answered with a Jaime Faber RBI single to bring in Jake Fishman. The Dutchmen would make it 4-1 in the third with a Kent Curran RBI groundout and Andy Labeck followed later in the innings with a two run single.

After the Engineers make it 4-2 in the top of the 4th, Union followed with two of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Curran picked up another RBI groundout in the innings and Jeffery Grasso Jr. drove in Curran with a single to left.

The Dutchmen scored three more times in the fifth inning on a two-run double from Curran and a RBI single from Faber.

RPI added single runs in the sixth and seventh and brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the 7th. However, freshman Bill Christopher worked out of the bases-loaded jam to seal the victory and earn his second save of the season.

Curran finished the game with two hits and a team-high four RBIs while Faber and CJ Worley had three hit performances.

In game two, RPI's Sean Conroy silented the Union bats over a nine inning complete game. Union broke through in the top of the ninth on a Faber RBI fielder's choice to ruin the shutout.

Andy Labeck allowed just two runs (1 ER) in his 5 and 2/3 innings on the mound before the bullpen allowed nine runs over the final three innings to provide the 11-1 final. Labeck falls to 0-2 on the year despite giving up just two earned runs total in his two starts. He walked five and punched out four.

Union will be back in action with a four-game home-and-home series with Bard College this Friday and Saturday.
