Belton, Texas – Both teams posted five run innings, but the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team could not match what Trinity University did in the other eight frames as the Cru dropped a 12-6 decision to the Tigers Tuesday night in Belton. UMHB falls to 13-9 on the season with the loss. Trinity improves to 18-8 on the year with the victory.

Chase Burrow gave the Cru a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the first. Trinity would take a 2-1 lead on Austin Singer's solo homer and Connor Moore's RBI single in the top of the second inning. Jeremy Wolf added a solo home run in the top of the third to stretch the lead to 3-1 before UMHB put up its five-spot in the bottom of that frame. Dakota Parsons, Tripp Reeves and Emery Atkisson all drove in runs and two others scored on Tiger errors to give the Cru a 6-3 lead. The Tigers answered with their own five-run inning in the top of the fifth. Trinity used Singer's two-run double, two bases loaded walks and a run-scoring wild pitch to take an 8-6 lead. Trinity took advantage of three more walks to add three runs in the top of the sixth and added a single run in the seventh to provide the final margin.

Nick Hayman took the loss for the Cru to drop to 1-1 on the year. Parsons had three of UMHB's nine hits in the loss. Matthew Tindall picked up the win for Trinity to even his record at 1-1 and Teddy Turner notched his second save of the year for the Tigers. Singer, Colin Serkowski and Carter McEachern had three hits apiece and Singer and Moore both had three RBI to pace the Trinity offense.

The Cru will return to action with a three-game American Southwest Conference series at U.T.-Dallas later this week. The two teams open the series with a 2:00 PM single game on Thursday before closing out the week with a 1:00 PM doubleheader on Friday in Richardson.
