ROME, Ga. -- A four-run seventh inning completed a comeback win for Berry as the host Vikings defeated the Covenant baseball team 6-2 in non-conference action on Tuesday night in Rome.

The game was Covenant's third in two different states in just over 24 hours. The Scots (9-15) played a doubleheader at North Carolina Wesleyan on Monday then had a quick turnaround for Tuesday's road contest.

With the win, Berry (16-12-1) gets the season sweep as the Vikings defeated Covenant 11-10 on March 17 on Lookout Mountain.

Covenant staked starting pitcher Spencer Smith to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. Will Carlton doubled home Perry Rigby with two outs and later scored on Alex Kerr's single to right field that made it 2-0.

Berry scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to tie the score at 2-2. In the seventh, the Vikings took advantage of two Covenant errors and an Alex McGill two-run double to go ahead 6-2. The Berry bullpen would shut down Covenant in the eighth and ninth innings to secure the win.

For a second time this season, Smith was effective in his start against the Vikings. The senior right-hander went five innings and allowed just two runs on five hits. Carlton (0-1) came on in relief and gets the loss as he allowed three earned runs.

Carlton and Harvey each had two hits to lead Covenant's 10-hit attack. Harvey also swiped two bases.

Tyler Will (1-0) gets the win in relief as he pitched 1.1 scoreless innings. McGill finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Covenant will be back on the road this weekend in a USA South series at Ferrum. Games one and two of the series will be played on Friday starting at 3 p.m.
