24! Miller Sets the All-Time Wins Record as Hornets Defeat H-SC

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Senior Brandon Miller set the Lynchburg College record for wins in a career as he picked up number 24 in a 12-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball victory over Hampden-Sydney College on Wednesday afternoon.

The win breaks a four-way tie for the top spot on the record board as Miller was tied with Matt Gouker, Sean Conlin, and Mike Ranson coming into Wednesday's start.

Wednesday's victory moves the Hornets within 1.5 games of Hampden-Sydney who currently holds the sixth, and final, spot in the ODAC standings.

Miller (2-5) did just enough to get the win, working five innings before giving way to Zack Engelmann, who threw four perfect frames while striking out two for the save.

The offense did the damage early for Lynchburg, scoring three runs in the first and three more in the second. Joe Rogers led the charge with three RBI on a pair of hits in the two frames. He ended the day 5-for-6 at the plate with three runs scored and six RBI.

Hampden-Sydney scored four in the third to cut the deficit to two runs, but Lynchburg added two in the sixth before tacking on four more in the eighth to cause the final score.

Jackson Rogers had two runs for Hampden-Sydney (10-17-1/7-8 ODAC) while Jack Elliott had two RBI.

Jonathan Munn went 4-for-6 with two RBI while Drew Taylor collected three hits.

Lynchburg (10-17/5-7) travels to Washington and Lee University (7-13/5-11) Thursday for a 4 p.m.
