No. 14-ranked St. Thomas used a 10-run third inning en route to a 12-8, comeback win in game one of Wednesday's conference baseball doubleheader with visiting St. John's. The Johnnies held on for a split with a 5-4 victory in game two.

St. Thomas (17-9 overall, 8-2 MIAC) remains in a share of the MIAC lead with Bethel, which also split a home twinbill.

The Toms trailed 7-2 into the bottom of the third inning but sent 14 to the plate and scored 10 runs with eight hits and three walks. Zach Gottfredsen's RBI single tied the game 7-7; Keller Knoll's ground-rule double made it 9-4; Ben Waltz' two-run double made it 11-7; and Waylon Bemboom's RBI triple capped the rally.

Senior Greg Clute took the win as he worked the final four innings and allowed no earned runs, two hits, no walks and fanned three.

Game two was tied 2-2 through four innings but SJU capitalized on a three-base throwing error to score two go-ahead runs and stay ahead for good. Mike Stegora's RBI single made it 5-2.

Collin Felhaber (win, seven innings, three runs) and Kurt Jantscher (save, two innings, one run) combined on a four-hitter for the Johnnies (14-12, 5-5).

St. John's had no errors over the 16 innings and turned three double plays on the day, including a 1-6-3 play to end the game after UST had pulled within one run in its last at-bat.

St. Thomas' Brady Johnson drove in three runs in game two with a pair of singles.
