Freshman centerfielder Tyler Gulick of East Lansing, Michigan (East Lansing HS), hit his team-leading fifth home run of the season for the Hope College baseball team during an 8-5 loss to Aquinas on Tuesday at Boeve Stadium.

The nonleague defeat snapped the Flying Dutchmen's three-game win streak and left them with an 18-13 overall record.

Gulick's three-run homer fueled a four-run third that put Hope ahead 4-1.

The Flying Dutchmen answered a three-run Aquinas rally in the sixth that tied the score at 4-4 with a sacrifice fly from sophomore rightfielder J.P. Batts of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) in their half of the inning.

Aquinas, however, strung together five hits during the top of the ninth for a game-winning, four-run rally. The Saints improved to 17-21 overall.

Hope returns to action on Thursday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Alma that will open a four-game series.
