Baseball Stays Hot With 11-0 Win Over Summit University

Senior left fielder Nick Papillo (Germantown, Md./St. John's College H.S.) had four hits and six pitchers combined on a shutout as The University of Scranton baseball team defeated Summit University, 11-0, on Friday afternoon at Connell Park.

Papillo finished 4-for-5 with an RBI and freshman third baseman Michael Ratner (Langhorne, Pa./The Pennington School) finished 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Scranton (18-12) scored five times in the first, once in the second, three times in the third and twice in the fourth while winning its fourth straight game and 11th out of its last 12.

Senior righty Stephen Hart (Mountainside, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) threw two shutout innings of relief to pick up the victory. Freshman starter Jack Hurley (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and senior lefty C.J. Felthaus (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) added two shutout innings each.

Scranton also received two hits, an RBI and a run from freshman shortstop Justin Howell (Millville, N.J./Watchung Hills), and freshman right fielder Chase Standen (Newtown Square, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) doubled, drove in two and scored a run in the win over Summit, which was previously known as Baptist Bible College.

The Royals are back in action on Saturday when they host Drew University in a Landmark Conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Senior Day ceremonies will be held between games.
