FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (April 29, 2015) – Head Coach Kristaps Aldins recorded his 100th career victory as the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team upended Farmingdale State 3-0 on Wednesday.

He becomes the fourth coach of the spring to hit a milestone this spring, as softball skipper Erica Mehalick picked her 100th career win, men's lacrosse head man Gene Peluso notched win number 200 and men's volleyball coach Patrick Dorywalski recorded his 500th career win last Friday night.

If you love great pitching, this was the game for you, as pitchers on both sides squandered a combined eight hits throughout the afternoon. The Ducks (26-10) got on the board in the top of the third as junior Jonathan Toro laced a one out double to center field. A wild pitch moved him 90 feet closer, and he was brought on a ball that was booted by the third basemen, giving freshman Tommy Baronner an RBI.

Stevens tacked on the final two runs of the contest in the top of the sixth. Junior Jayson Yano hit a single right back through the box and advanced two bases on a double to right by fellow junior Nick Sieber. After an intentional walk to senior Brian Hennelly, sophomore Michael Mule' also drew a walk which brought home Yano. Finally, sophomore Nolan Bennett delivered a sacrifice fly to right to bring in the game's final tally.

Yano, the reigning Empire 8 Conference and ECAC player of the week, was brilliant on the mound today, as he twirled five and two thirds hitless innings before a slow hit single by Dan Lombardo broke up the no-no bid. He tossed six innings, allowing just the one hit while striking out five and walking three. Senior Peirce Marston threw a perfect seventh inning, striking out one.

The Rams (16-15) threatened in the bottom of the eighth, as a walk to Ryan Jordan and a single up the middle by PJ Harrington put men on first and second with only one out. But junior Danny McIntyre struck out the next two hitters to end the threat. Once again, Farmingdale put two runners on in the bottom of the ninth, but junior Ryan Patterson got three fly outs to record his ninth save of the year.

Sieber had two hits while Toro, Yano and Bennett also recorded hits.

Spencer Prusack started and went three innings allowing one run, and Dalton McCarthy tossed three innings out of the bullpen, allowing two runs striking out three.

Aldins is just the third coach in Stevens baseball history to reach 100 wins, joining Frank Misar and his predecessor John Crane to reach the century club.

"Coach Aldins has challenged me every day to not only become a better player, but a better person, senior pitcher Gary Boardman said. "I'm proud to be part of this milestone in his career and I wish nothing but the best for him."

Stevens is back in action Saturday as they travel to Ithaca for a three game series, with first pitch on Saturday at 1 p.m.
