LATROBE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team recorded a 4-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over the Saint Vincent Bearcats on the road Friday afternoon.
Matt Elko shut down the Bearcats offense en route to a complete game, two-hit shutout to record his eighth win of the season. Elko struck out thirteen batters and only allowed one walk.
The Tomcats collected fifteen hits and were paced by outfielders Austin Schwanke and Trent Mosley. Both Schwanke and Mosley had two-hit, two-RBI performances Friday.
Schwanke opened scoring for the Tomcats in the second inning on a two-RBI single to right field that scored Brian Genco and Ryan Brumbaugh. Mosley added two more runs in the top of the seventh on a single to center field that brought home Josh Doody and Cody Trinch.
The Tomcats (27-11, 16-6 PAC) will finish the season series against the Bearcats Saturday in a doubleheader at Tomcat Park starting at 1 p.m.
