Bearcats Drop Regular-Season Finale to St. Joseph's (Brooklyn), 13-5

The baseball team lost their regular-season finale to St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, 13-5, in a non-conference contest played on Saturday afternoon at Padavan-Prellers Field in Queens, New York.

The visiting Bearcats scored the first run as
Nicholas Calabresewalked with the bases loaded to plate John Paul Cattaroin the first inning.

The home side Bears scored three runs in the second inning and added another in the fourth to build up a 4-1 advantage.


Zachary T. Uherthen cut the score to 4-3 with a two-run homer in the fifth, but the Bears responded with four runs on four hits in their bottom half of the inning.

Eric Ulinowould hit a pinch-hit two-run homer in the sixth inning to get as close as 8-5, but the Bears put the game out of reach with two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings to lead 12-5.

They added another run in the eighth inning to complete the 13-5 score with 14 total hits (four doubles)

Cattaro finished batting 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats will next turn their attention to the CUNYAC Championship Tournament that starts on Thursday, May 7, with a 4:00 pm home contest as higher seed against the Lightning of Lehman College.

The game will be played at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, New York.
