TROY, N.Y. - Senior Jared Jensen tossed his team-leading sixth complete game of the year to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball team to a 10-3 victory over Clarkson University in Liberty League Tournament action at Robison Field. With the win, the Engineers improve to 24-15 and advance to Saturday's championship round against RIT. The Golden Knights conclude their season with a 24-9 record.

Jensen (Kingston, NY/Kingston) surrendered a first inning run, before settling down over the next four frames. The RPI bats got going in the second as an error, a single and a walk loaded the bases with nobody out. Junior Nick Annunziata (Neshanic Station, NJ/St. Joseph) delivered a sacrifice fly, but sophomore Thomas Desmond (Alamo, CA/La Salle) was thrown out trying to move to third, crippling the rally.

With one out in the home half of the third, senior captain Tyler Listing (West Sand Lake, NY/Averill Park) was hit by a pitch. Jensen then doubled putting runners on second third. Classmate Tim LeSuer (Oak View, CA/Nordoff) followed by ripping a single up the middle that plated two, giving RPI its first lead at 3-1.

Annunziata kept the offense going in the fourth, doubling home sophmore Jason Ramos (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) with a line drive down the left field line. After a sacrifice bunt, senior Shane Matthews (Ballston Spa, NY/Saratoga Catholic) launched a towering home run to left to make it 6-1.

A Chris Holomakoff (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon) RBI-single in the fifth made it four straight innings with a run and a 7-1 edge to the hosts.

Clarkson did not go away quietly, however, coming back with two runs in the top of the sixth. Senior Nolan Driscoll (Troy, NY/Catholic Central) plated one run with an RBI-groundout, before classmate Tim Beninati (Schoharie, NY/Schoharie) delivered an opposite single that scored another.

Listing added an insurance run with a single in the seventh, before Ramos capped a 2 for 2 day by driving home two in the eighth with a base-hit.

Jensen (6-2) allowed three runs on 13 hits in 9.0 innings. He struck out five and walked three. The six victories match a career-high, which he also acomplished in 2013. Junior Joe Rooney (Melrose, NY/Hoosic Valley) took the loss for Clarkson, surrendering five runs (4 earned) on six hits in 3.0 innings. He struck out one and walked one.

RPI takes on RIT on Saturday at 11am and must win to force a final tournament game, which would start approximately 30 minutes after the end of the first game.
