UMHB swept by U.T.-Tyler

Tyler, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team could not get the bats going in either game as the Cru dropped both ends of a doubleheader to U.T.-Tyler Saturday in Tyler. UMHB lost game one 6-1 and fell 10-1 in game two.

The Cru took an early lead but could not hold on in the 10-1 game two loss. Max Conway's RBI single made it 1-0 UMHB in the top of the fourth. Cru starter Casey Frazier made it stand up into the sixth inning. Tyler scored three runs that inning, two of them unearned to grab a 3-1 lead. The Patriots added three more in the seventh and four in the eighth to put the game out of reach. Frazier took the loss to fall to 0-1 despite giving up just one earned run in six innings of work. UMHB was held to just five hits in the game while U.T.-Tyler banged out 15 and made the most of three Cru errors.

UMHB fell behind early and never recovered in game one's 6-1 defeat. The Patriots scored two runs in the bottom of the first and added three more in the bottom of the second. The Cru scored on a run on a double play in the top of the fifth to cut it to 5-1, but U.T.-Tyler added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning. Seth Hill took the loss for UMHB to fall to 1-2 in the season and Seth Martin had two of the team's six hits in the loss. U.T.-Tyler only managed seven hits off Hill and reliever Stuart Hennigar.

The Cru falls to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in American Southwest Conference play with the two losses. The Patriots improve to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the ASC with the two victories. UMHB will return to action with a 6:00 PM game against Southwestern University on Tuesday at Red Murff Field.
