The Bison are now 2-3 in three seasons under head coach Nick Puccio against the Hawks and have won the last two contest.

Quick Synopsis
The Nichols College baseball team picked up its first win of the season 9-3 over Becker College in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex. The Bison had 14 hits from seven different student-athletes and heads into the Snowbird Classic in Florida with a 1-1 record. 

Three Stars of the Game
1 – Junior Tim Ford (Stafford Springs, Conn.) (Nichols) – career-high four hits to go with three RBI's and two runs scored.
2 – Sophomore Nick Roy (Middletown, Conn.) (Nichols) – 3-for-5, including a double, and three runs scored with a stolen base.
3 – Freshman Tanyon Ventres (Holden, Mass.) (Becker) – 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

Keys Stat of the Game
The Bison outhit the Hawks 14-8 in the game including four hits in the second inning in which the Bison took a 2-0 lead. Becker also committed four errors for the game and had two in the three-run fourth inning for Nichols.

Quick Hits
- The Bison went with the pitching tandem of their two teammates from the New York Collegiate Baseball League's (NYCBL) Olean Oilers – senior Joseph Nicolace (Cranston, R.I.) and junior Adam Rigney (Niantic, Conn.). Nicolace pitched the first five innings and took the win after allowing three runs (all earned) on six hits while walking two and striking out four before turning the ball over to Rigney – who picked up the save – after tossing four scoreless innings and striking out four.

- Freshman Michael Bovenzi (Shirley, N.Y.) took the loss for the Hawks after pitching the first two frames and allowing two runs (both earned) on five hits while walking one and striking out one.

- Junior Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.) had a pair of hits in six at-bats while sophomore Greg Eng (Middletown, R.I.) also had two hits including an RBI-single in the second inning to score Roy and put the Bison on the board.

- Sophomore Brendan Martin (Nashua, N.H.) drove in two runs while stealing two bases in the game and sophomores Spencer Madden (Nashua, N.H.) and Ross Casswell (Randolph, Vt.) both had RBI-singles in the fourth inning.

- Ventres led the Hawks with a pair of hits including an RBI-single in the second inning to cut the deficit in half that scored junior T.J. Sempkowski (Oceanport, N.J.). Sophomore Christopher Testa (Providence, R.I.) had a sac fly RBI to give the Hawks their third and final run while sophomore Josiah Shepherd (Providence, R.I.) went 1-for-4 with a run scored.
