LOUISIVILLE, Ky. – Kyle Fluharty threw a complete game shutout on Sunday to lead the Heidelberg University baseball team to a 2-0 win over Anderson. The senior was absolutely dominant throughout and was provided with just enough run support as the Student Princes salvaged the weekend with a win.

The shutout was the first of Fluharty's career and was also his second complete game as a Student Prince, as he also accomplished that feat as a sophomore in a victory over Capital. The senior was very efficient on the hill for the Berg and allowed six hits and three walks while striking out six for the win. He was able to work out of a jam in the eighth inning when Anderson had runners on first and second with one out, but Fluharty got a ground ball for a double play with the next batter to get out of the inning unscathed. He concluded the game in style, striking out the final batter to wrap up his gem.

Heidelberg opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning, when a two-out RBI single by Joey Wenning gave the Berg an early 1-0 lead.

That score held until the fourth inning when the Student Princes tacked on another run, which came via a sacrifice fly by Wenning to score Parker Fronk.

The Student Princes were unable to plate another run for the remainder of the game, but they did not need it, as Fluharty was spectacular in leading HU to the 2-0 victory.

Adam Hershberger led the HU offense with two hits while Wenning drove in both runs for the Berg.

The complete game by Fluharty was the second of the season for the Heidelberg pitching staff, as Steve Huber did so in a 3-2 win over Case Western Reserve on February 27th.
