FORT PIERCE, Fla. (March 8, 2016) – Eight different Rangers combined for 13 hits as the Drew University baseball team (4-2) won its third straight game with a 14-4 win over Hilbert College on Tuesday at the Florida Gulf Coast Spring Training.

Sophomore right fielder Ryan Sabbag batted 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs to up his early-season average to .435 and team-leading RBI total to seven. Junior catcher Dan Pfefferkorn got his first start of the season and went 2-for-3 with two walks, two RBIs and two runs. Senior first baseman Bobby Miskura finished 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, a run and two RBIs.

Freshman Zach Luke turned in a successful performance on the mound in his first career start, tossing six innings of three-run ball. The rookie hurler allowed six hits and four walks, while striking out seven and earning the win.

The Hawks (2-2) tagged Luke for a run in top of the first inning, but it didn't take the Rangers long to get it back, and then some. Drew exploded for six hits, five walks and got the help from an error en route to nine runs in the second inning. Junior third baseman Jonathan Rodrigues and Pfefferkorn each had a two-run single in the frame, while Miskura added an RBI base hit. Senior second baseman Anthony Feltre, junior Tommy Broyles and freshman shortstop Zach Lipshitz all recorded RBIs in the nine-run inning.

That would be plenty of support for Luke, who coasted through six innings of work before turning over the lead to the bullpen. Jendy CastilloTyler Norris and Joe Dahut didn't allow an earned run over the final three innings to seal the victory. Meanwhile, Feltre and Miskura added RBIs in the sixth, and Sabbag capped a productive day with a two-run double in the seventh to set the score at 14-4.

Notably, freshman Joseph Grossane picked up his first collegiate hit in his very first collegiate at-bat with a leadoff double in the bottom of the eighth.

The Rangers enjoy an off day in Southern Florida on Wednesday before playing two on Thursday, March 10 against La Roche College and Maritime College.
