MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Junior right-hander Sean McNamara (Scarsdale, N.Y./Fordham Prep) tossed a complete game five-hitter and sophomore right fielder Chase Standen (Newtown Square, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) ripped a three-run double to lead The University of Scranton to a 4-1 victory over Swarthmore in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday at the Ripken Experience. Swarthmore took the opener, 6-0.

McNamara now has both of the wins this season for the Royals (2-5), as he didn't allow a walk while striking out three in his first complete game of the season. He held Swarthmore (9-3) off the board until the bottom of the seventh, allowing an RBI fielder's choice before inducing a game-ending double play, the second twin killing by the Royals' defense in the game.

In three appearances this season, McNamara has gone 2-0 with a 0.63 ERA, allowing nine hits and a walk in 14 1/3 innings.

Standen provided the crushing blow at the plate, ripping a decisive three-run double in the top of the fourth. It was a part of a two-hit day for Standen, who also singled in the sixth to help the Royals eventually plate a run on a double play.

Sophomore first baseman Michael Ratner (Langhorne, Pa./The Pennington School) singled and scored a run in the win.

In the opener, Swarthmore scored a run in the second, then opened things up with two in the third and another in the fourth while holding the Royals to just five hits. Sophomore center fielder Tommy Trotter (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) was the lone Scranton player with two hits, singling twice.

The Royals and Swarthmore will be back at it again Saturday morning with a single game at 9 a.m. Scranton will also take on Alfred State at noon.
