SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 20, 2016) – A bases loaded walk by Derek Hullings gave the Sewanee baseball team a 4-3 win over Southern Athletic Association (SAA) No. 2 ranked Birmingham-Southern, Sunday, at historic Montgomery Field.

The victory is Sewanee's highest ranked win against a nationally-ranked team in program history.

The biggest key for the Tigers was on the mound. Sewanee starter Drew Mancuso allowed only five hits in 6.2 innings of work. BSC managed to score three runs against Mancuso, however only one was earned. He also struck out four.

Additionally, reliever Harrison Lee earned his first win of the season after he finished the game with a strikeout and allowed only three hits.

BSC starter Kyle Royalty also pitched well after he gave up three runs (two earned) and struck out six in 6.0 innings.

Sewanee took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth as Kyle Schnell kept up his great weekend. With Tony Dykes on third, the Tiger DH reached on a fielder's choice that drove in Dykes.

After BSC tied the game in the top of the sixth, Sewanee answered back in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Hullings flew out to deep center that plated Beau Allen. A batter later, Trey Akins drove in Tyler Minkkinen with an RBI single.

Down 3-1 in the top of the seventh, BSC rallied. With two outs, David Scott drove in two with an RBI single.

The score remained tied until the drama in the ninth. After Schnell walked with one out, Ryan Poole singled. Poole and Schnell then advanced on a fielder's choice. After Minkkinen struck out with the bases loaded, Hullings drew the game-winning walk.

Overall, Mancuso led Sewanee with two hits to go along with his great pitching performance.
