Rookie Bryan Flannerypitched seven solid innings and Matthew Fazioearned the save to give the Bearcats a 2-1 non-conference road victory against the Panthers from the State University of New York at Old Westbury on Tuesday afternoon in Old Westbury, New York.

The Bearcats quickly scored in the first inning as Edwin Saint-Hilairesmacked an RBI single to plate Luca Altamiranofor the 1-0 lead.

The increased their advantage to two runs in the fourth inning. Nicholas Calabresehit a fielder's choice sac bunt that enabled John Paul Cattaroto cross home plate untouched.

Old Westbury, who own a solid regional win this season over No. 5 ranked Kean, rallied in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly RBI to cut the score to 2-1. They had runners on the corners with one out in that inning, but Matthew Fazioin relief forced a double-play to end the inning.

Fazio also shut down Old Westbury in their final at-bat and allowed no hits in his two inning stint to preserve the win.

Flannery, who improves to 2-0 on the season, pitched seven total innings (7 IP, 1 R, 1 ER) with five strikeouts in his longest and most successful outing of his young career.

The Bearcats totaled two runs on eight hits, while the Panthers scored one run on four hits.
