The Nichols College baseball team fell 20-15 to WPI in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex. The Bison led 15-9 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning before the Engineers scored eight runs in the seventh and three runs in the eighth to secure the win.

1 – Senior Anthony Capuano (Stoneham, Mass.) (WPI) – 3-for-6 with three-run homerun in the third; three runs scored.
2 – Junior Tim Ford (Stafford Springs, Conn.) (Nichols) – 2-for-5 with four RBI – including three-run homerun in the fourth; two runs scored; one walk
3 – Senior Alex Venditti (Newton, Mass.) (WPI) – 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs scored

The Bison move to 0-5 on the season when allowing more than 10 runs to their opponent. WPI scored eight runs on five hits and a pair of Bison errors in the seventh inning to take the lead in the game 17-15.

- Nichols had seven student-athletes with a hit in the game and all of them had multiple hits in the game and at least one RBI. Sophomores Cam Cook (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Ross Caswell (Randolph, Vt.) along with junior Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.) and freshman Joe Assenza (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) all had three-hit efforts.
- Ford and Assenza hit the first two homeruns of the season for the Bison in the game.
- Junior Nick Comei (Haverhill, Mass.) finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored to go along with two walks while senior Vinny D'Ambrosio (Mahopac, N.Y.) had three hits to go with a pair of runs and RBI for the Engineers.
- Freshman Tyler Crane (East Amherst, N.Y.) came on in relief for the Bison in the seventh inning and took the loss after tossing just 0.2 innings and allowing two runs on one hit and walking one. Junior Mike Vaitkunas (Auburn, Mass.) took the win for the Engineers throwing the last 2.1 innings and not allowing a run on two hits and walking one.
