ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball program put up 22 runs against SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday afternoon at Freeman Field en route to a 22-7 win, moving its record to 7-8 on the season. The 22 runs scored are the most in a single game since the Bombers tacked on 24 runs on March 14, 2012 against Hampden-Sydney.

Thirteen different players recorded at least one hit, while 11 Bombers drove in one or more runs.

The Bombers wasted no time jumping out to a big lead in the first, plating five runs before an out was recorded. Ithaca started the game with a pair of walks to juniors Josh Savacool and Ryan Dougherty, and then fellow junior Trevor Thompson reached on catcher's interference to load the bases. Freshman Andrew Bailey then stepped to the dish and roped a bases-clearing double to left-centerfield to give the Bombers a 3-0 edge. The score then moved to 5-0 on a two-run home run to right off the bat of freshman Sam Little which knocked Oneonta's starter out of the game.

After the pitching change, Ithaca tacked on four more runs, highlighted by a two-run triple from sophomore Brennan McCormack that pushed home junior Ryan Henchey and freshman Matt Carey. A single from Bailey brought in Dougherty from second for the ninth run of the frame and completed the team cycle in the inning.

Oneonta trimmed into Ithaca's lead in the second with two runs. The Red Dragons' first run scored on a single to center after an error and the other came in on a groundout.

Ithaca would come back with four more runs in the second inning to make the difference, 13-2. Savacool provided the key hit in the frame with a two-run double to right-center to drive in freshman Webb Little and McCormack.

The Bombers would continue the onslaught with five more runs over the third and fourth innings to push their lead out to 18-4. W. Little doubled in a run in the third, while Savacool notched a sac fly. In the fourth, the first four hitters reached on walks and a hit by pitch and then back-to-back sac flies from Carey and McCormack capped off the frame.

Senior John Stanley drove in Ithaca's 19th run of the game with an infield single in the fifth. Sophomore Jonathan Ripic and freshman Adam Gallagher recorded RBI singles in the seventh to put the Bombers over the 20-run plateau. Ithaca's final run scored on a groundout by sophomore Chris Fiaschetti that brought in freshman Cam Fuoti in the eighth.

Freshman Jake Generali went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Bailey, Carey, McCormack, W. Little and Stanley all collected two hits.

Bailey drove in four runs, Savacool and McCormack had three RBI, and the Little brothers notched two RBI. Thompson reached base in all five plate appearances with a hit, two hit by pitches, a walk and catcher's interference.

Senior Brandon Diorio earned the win on the mound for the Bombers in four innings pitched. Diorio gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits with a pair of strikeouts. Seniors Ryan Contegni and Benji Parkes, junior Logan Barer and freshman Zach Zotolla each tossed a hitless inning in relief. Junior Jean Germosen also fired an inning in relief.

Ithaca opens its Empire 8 Conference slate this weekend at Stevens Institute of Technology on April 2-3 in Hoboken, N.J. The Bombers and Stevens play a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. on the 2nd and conclude the series at 3 p.m. on the 3rd.
