CLAREMONT — Brady Fuller went 3 for 5, starter Scott Ericksen was rock solid on the mound and the Occidental baseball team finished off a three-game sweep of Pomona-Pitzer with a 6-3 win on Saturday afternoon.
Season Impact: The first-place Tigers improve to 20-5 overall and 15-3 in SCIAC play. Oxy has won 18 of its last 19 games, has an in-region record of 17-4 and is No. 17 in the nation.
Pomona-Pitzer falls to 12-14 and 5-10.
Ericksen struck out four in eight innings pitched, giving up just three runs in the winning effort.
Riley James came on to earn the save with a scoreless ninth.
With Ericksen rolling and a two-run lead, Oxy rallied for four runs in the sixth, blowing the game open 6-0.
The Sagehens got three back in the bottom half of the sixth.
Fuller and the Tigers totaled 13 hits as a group. Charlie Caccamo and Devon DeRaad went 2 for 4, and Jack Brancheau was 2 for 2.
Chasing History: Oxy is chasing the program's first SCIAC Championship since 1982 and looking to get back to the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.
