The Flying Dutchmen now are in sole possession of first place in the MIAA standings. They are one game behind fourth-place Kalamazoo.

The Flying Dutchmen held on for a 9-8 win over the opener as rightfielder JP Batts of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, including a three-run double in the third inning.

The Flying Dutchmen claimed the sweep in Game 2 by erasing a 4-0 deficit with a six-run fifth. Leftfielder Ryan Konkle of Marshall, Michigan (Marshall) followed a two-run double from Batts in the inning with a three-run triple.

Konkle, who is hitting .561 in MIAA play and .438 overall, added a RBI double in the sixth. He leads Hope with 29 RBI.
