BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Holding Piedmont to just three hits, the No. 7 Birmingham-Southern baseball team achieved its third-straight 30-win season Tuesday evening, defeating the Lions 2-1 at Striplin Field.

The Panthers moved to 30-9, while the Lions fell to 20-17. It marks BSC's third straight 30-win year, and the sixth time in the last seven years that the Panthers have won 30 or more games.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a scoreless first three-and-a-half innings, an RBI single by freshman A.J. Hunt in the bottom of the fourth put BSC on the board, 1-0.
• The Panthers scored on a Piedmont error in the sixth to go up 2-0.
• Piedmont finally got on the board in the top of the eighth when Brady Ballstadt singled up the middle.
• With two outs and the tying run on base in the top of the ninth, senior Wilson Jamisonstruck out the final batter of the game to preserve the win and get the save.

NOTABLE

• Jamison threw the final 1.2 innings and picked up his third save of the year; sophomoreRoss James (4-1) got the win after throwing the third and fourth innings and striking out three batters.
• Hunt and junior Sam Roberts were both 2-of-4 at the plate for BSC.

UP NEXT

• BSC begins post-season play this weekend, hosting a portion of the Southern Athletic Association Championship.
• The top-seeded Panthers will face eighth-seeded Sewanee this Friday at 6 p.m.; action in the four-team double-elimination pod will continue through the weekend.
