The St. John Fisher College baseball team split its first home Empire 8 Conference doubleheader weekend with Stevens Institute of Technology this afternoon at Dugan Yard. 
 
Cardinals' starting pitcher Terry Engels threw the team's second no-hitter of the season in game one as Fisher took the contest 4-1 to push its winning streak to 14-games. In game two, the Ducks took the contest 3-1 and handed the Cardinals its first Empire 8 loss of the season.
 
Fisher is now 22-7 overall and 10-1 in the Empire 8, while Stevens goes 20-12 on the season and 11-3 in conference action.
 
Nate Roethel paced all Cardinals hitters as he tallied three hits on the day.
 
Fisher is home against Stevens tomorrow in a conference/non-conference doubleheader starting 12 p.m.
 
Game One: Fisher 4, Stevens 1
 
The Ducks took an early 1-0 led in the top of the second on a walk, a wild pitch and a fielding error to score its only run of the game.  As a team, Stevens finished the game with five walks and no hits.
 
Fisher tied the game in the bottom of the third inning.  Junior second baseman Evan Ryan singled on a bunt back to the pitcher. He later scored on Cody Wiktorski's double down the right field line, marking his 11^th double of the season.
 
The Cardinals plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a hit and an error to make it a 3-1 game.  Catcher Victor Konstantinovsky started the inning as he singled to center. He later came around to score as Ryan reached on a fielder's choice and moved to third on a throwing error by the first baseman.  A sacrifice-fly to center by Jack Trotman scored Ryan and put Fisher in front for the first time.
 
Fisher tacked on another run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-1.
 
With two down in the top of the seventh, Fisher centerfielder Joe Simmons saved the no-hitter on his forward diving catch to end the game and lock up the win for Engels.
 
Engels (4-1) fanned five and walked five.
 
Roethel finished the game going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a RBI to pace all Fisher hitters for the game.
 
Game Two: Stevens 3, Fisher 1
 
In the top of the third, Stevens plated a run on one hit and a walk. They later added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth as the Ducks took advantage of three errors.
 
Ducks pitcher Greg Jakusik went the complete game as he allowed just three hits, two walks and an earned run. He improved his record to 2-1 on the year.
 
Fisher scored its only run in the bottom of the ninth. Trotman opened the inning up on walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. He later moved to third as Mike Roman grounded out to the shortstop for the first out of the inning. First baseman Scott Eisenmenger drove Trotman in as he grounded to the third baseman.
 
Trotman finished game two going 1-for-3 with a run scored.
 
Cardinals' starting pitcher Marc Iseneker fell to 4-2 on the season after throwing 8.2 innings, scattering five hits, allowing three runs (one earned) and striking out seven.
