THOUSAND OAKS — The No. 8 Occidental baseball team had a forgettable outing at No. 18 Cal Lutheran in the second game of a three-game series on Saturday, losing 16-6 in 8 innings.
The Tigers had a nightmare bottom of the third inning, committing three errors on their way to giving up 12 runs.
Will Martel, Oxy's first year starter who came into the game with a 8-0 record and a 1.69 earned run average, had his first bad outing of his career, giving up six earned runs before checking out with just 2.0 innings pitched.
The Tigers got all six of their runs in the sixth.
Season Impact: Oxy, which has won 25 of its last 27 games, has its 12-game winning streak snapped, falling to 27-6 overall and 19-4 in SCIAC play. The Tigers remain one game ahead of Cal Lutheran for first place in the SCIAC with five regular season games to play.
Next Game: The Tigers and Kingsmen finish their three-game series at Cal Lu on Saturday afternoon.
