MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Huntingdon College's Anthony Spivey drove in three runs over Saturday's doubleheader with Guilford College as the Quakers dropped a pair  of games to Huntingdon. The Hawks took game one, 5-3, and the nightcap, 3-0, in a seven-inning contest.

Both sides rallied with two outs in the third inning of game one for each team's first run of the contest. The Quakers (17-22) broke the ice in the top half of the inning as Chuck Noble's two-out single claimed an early lead. The Hawks (26-17) countered one half-inning later as Anthony Spivey hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game. Josh Hines rallied Huntingdon with two-outs again one inning later with a two-RBI single as the Hawks claimed the lead. An error and a passed ball moved Joe Metts around the base paths, setting up Andrew Brann who answered the Hawks' rally by driving in Metts to cut the deficit in the top of the sixth inning. The Quakers tied the game one inning later when Guilford produced three hits before Josh Shepherd hit a sacrifice fly to even the score. The Hawks produced a two-run rally in the late last two innings, capped by a David Ellison RBI-single with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning to reclaim the lead. The Quakers loaded the bases with two outs with the go-ahead run at first base before the Hawks induced a ground out to claim the game one victory.

Two of Huntingdon's three game two-runs were scored on sacrifice flies as Cheston Wesson's two-out single in the bottom of the first inning was the only hit that drove in a run in the contest. Only three Quakers reached base in the seven-inning contest as Huntingdon held on to the lead throughout the contest to earn the doubleheader sweep.

Brett Shapcott and Grayson Tuttle both produced multi-hit efforts in game one for the Quakers, batting two-for-four apiece. Tuttle tallied a double while Shapcott earned a stolen base. Jacob Roberts was the remaining Quakers' bat with multiple hits over the doubleheader, batting two-for-six.

Parks Smithey (1-9) took the game one loss in a seven-inning effort where he struck out seven and walked five, surrendering four runs on four hits. Chase Shuford struck out one, throwing the eighth inning in relief. Eric Yost (2-2) struck out one and walked three in a five and two-third inning effort in game two.

Huntingdon's Zack Watson (6-5) struck out 11 in a seven and one-third inning effort to claim the game one victory. Mason Throneberry claimed his sixth save of the season, throwing the final inning where struck out and walked on batter. Jared Gonzalez (5-5) struck out six and walked one in the two-hit complete-game victory in game two.

Both sides finish the three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the Quakers' final game of the 2016 season.
