Baruch Baseball Bounces Back to Stay in CUNYAC Championship Hunt

The baseball team is alive in the CUNYAC Championship following an 8-5 elimination game win over the Lightning of Lehman College on Saturday night at the CSI Baseball Complex in Staten Island, New York.

The Bearcats started their day in solid fashion by building a 9-4 lead against weekend hosts Staten Island, but lost 10-9 in 10 innings after the host rallied with five runs in the ninth to dramatically force extra innings. They scored one more in the 10th to clinch the comeback win.

In the second game, the Bearcats came out lethargic and trailed 5-1 through 4.5 innings, but rallied by scoring the next seven runs to advance to Sunday's (1 p.m.) sixth game of the championship tournament against Staten Island.

In the first game,
Edwin St. Hilairehad the big bat going 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Jasdeep Buttarscored three runs.

In the second game,
Matthew Faziostarred with a complete, 10 strikeout performance to lift the team into playing again on Sunday. Luca Altamiranohad the hot bat going 2-for-4, with three runs scored and one RBI.
