Second-seeded St. John Fisher College defeated No. 6 Kean University 8-2 on Saturday in the championship game of the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Mid-Atlantic Regional at PNC Field in Moosic, Pa. on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Fisher improves to 38-11 overall after going 4-0 in the eight-team regional.  The Cardinals will now advance to the NCAA Championship Regional (Division III College World Series) in Appleton, Wisc., and play on Friday at Fox Cities Stadium.  Pairings and game times for the eight-team, double-elimination championship will be announced shortly.

Senior Mike Roman was selected as the Regional's Most Outstanding Player.  The starting shortstop went 8-for-17 (.471) over the four-game span and led Fisher in hits (8), runs scored (5) and tied for the team-lead with five RBI.

Fellow teammates Cody Wiktorski, Marc Iseneker, Evan Ryan and Nate Roethel were also named to the All-Regional Team.

Fisher jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning to take the lead for good, with a two-run double from Roethel capping the frame.

After the Cougars got one run back in the top of the second, Fisher's Cody Wiktorski answered with a solo home run to start the bottom of the second.

Kean scored in the top of the fifth to make it 4-2, but Fisher would answer again in the bottom-half of the inning.  Jack Vivinetto singled in a run and Ryan hit a sacrifice fly to score Joe Simmons.

Fisher added another run in the seventh and Eisenmenger scored the regional's final run in the eighth – a towering home run to left to seal the win.

Freshman pitcher Jim Dawson was solid through seven, allowing just five hits, two runs and no walks, while striking out three, raising his record to 9-1 on the year.  Ryan Felske pitched a scoreless eighth, while Loukas Brigham retired the side in the ninth to end the game and clinch the title.

WIktorksi led Fisher on the day with four hits, two runs and two RBI.  Eisenmenger and Roethel also finished with two hits and two RBI.  Simmons also tallied two hits and scored two runs.
