Big Ninth Inning Leads No. 5 Panthers Over LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The No. 5 Birmingham-Southern baseball team used a big ninth inning to pull out an 8-5 road win over LaGrange College Tuesday evening.  With the score tied 5-5 after the seventh inning, the Panthers put up three runs in the top of the ninth to earn the win and improve to 3-1 overall on the year.

 

Jack Rhodes (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) went 3-for-4 at the plate including a double, a run, and two RBI.  Rich Misischia (Dothan, Ala./Regis HS) and Will Toner (Atlanta, Ga./Marist HS) were 2-for-4 on the day.  Two of the runs in the ninth were on a home run from Sam Roberts (Johns Creek, Ga./Blessed Trinity).

 

Jake Cook (Oxford, Ala./Oxford HS) earned the win after going two innings and giving up just one hit.  Preston White (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) closed out the game to pick up the save.

 

The Panthers open their home season next in a three-day series against Concordia (Texas) starting Friday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m.
