BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 3 Birmingham-Southern baseball team gave Head Coach Jan Weisberg his 300th win at BSC with their two-game sweep Saturday, making him the fastest coach in program history to hit the mark. The Panthers defeated University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh 6-3 and then took down Transylvania 6-2 in the nightcap to improve to 11-3 on the year.
Preston White (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) led all hitters with a .571 average on the day. He finished with three runs and two RBI on four hits, including a double. David Scott (Atlanta, Ga./Woodward Academy) also had a good day at the plate. He went .556 with two runs and an RBI on five hits, including two doubles.
Stephen Himic (Birmingham, Ala./Indian Springs HS) and Ryan Gaines (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody HS) earned the wins. White picked up his third save of the season in the opener.
The Panthers hit the road next for a mid-week matchup against Huntingdon College. Game time is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7.
