Baruch Defeats Skidmore (5-3) at Gene Cusic Classic

The baseball team defeated the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College, 5-3, in a Saturday evening contest in Fort Myers, Florida.

The Bearcats found themselves down early in the second inning, 2-0, but their bats came alive in the sixth inning. RBI doubles by
Jasdeep Buttar and Edwin St. Hilaire tied the contest.

They took over the lead in the seventh inning on RBI singles by
Sean McNamara and Michael McGroart. St. Hilaire scored on an RBI ground out by Dan Daley in the eighth inning to increase the lead to 5-2.

Skidmore attempted a rally in their final at-bat and scored one run, but
Ryan Warner, who entered the game in relief in the seventh inning, shut them down.

Warner earns the win with a line of three innings, two hits, one run (earned), one walk and two strikeouts.
Matteo Flamio gets the no decision, despite a solid effort of six innings, eight hits, two runs (both earned), five strikeouts and two walks.

Daley (2-4, one run, RBI, double), Buttar (2-3, one run, RBI, double), St. Hilaire (2-4, one run, RBI, double), McGroarty (2-3, RBI), and McNamara (2-4, 1R, RBI) each had two hits as part of the 11-hit attack this evening. St. Hilaire and
Matthew Donofrio each recorded a stolen base.

The Thoroughbreds from the Liberty League finished with 10 hits. Josh Brown was the top player batting 4-for-5 with an RBI in their loss.

The Bearcats will continue their schedule in Fort Myers on Sunday, March 12 with a 9:00 a.m. single game against Gallaudet University.
