PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Arcadia University came from behind to defeat Marietta College, 4-3, Tuesday (March 14) morning at the Snowbird Classic. The Etta Express slips to 3-3 on the season, while Arcadia improves to 8-2 overall.

Chandler Palyas laced a triple to right field scoring Seamus Kenneally, who reached on an infield single, to give Marietta a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Michael Hale eventually knocked in Palyas with a ground ball to the shortstop making it 2-0.

Freshman James Angel (0-1) started on the mound for the Etta Express and cruised through the first three innings facing the minimum number of Arcadia hitters.

The Knights got a double and a single to start the fourth inning giving Arcadia runners on the corners with nobody out. Angel threw a pickoff attempt down the right field line allowing Bryan Gillen to score and Justin Chasmar to move into scoring position at second.

Pioneer skipper Brian Brewer went to the bullpen and brought in Kordell Antill to replace Angel. Phil Pierfy greeted Antill with an RBI single to right center scoring Hohenstein with the go ahead run.

The Knights scored an unearned run in the sixth to make it 4-2. Nick Cardace reached on a one out double and moved to third on a ground out to the shortstop. Antill appeared to get out of the inning when he induced the next hitter ground back to him on the mound. However, his throw to the plate was high and Cardace slid in safely.

Marietta cut the Knight lead in half with a run in the eighth inning. Chris Petrucci and Greg Peffley walked to start the inning. Mike Hale sacrificed both runners up 90 feet chasing Joseph Warren from the game.

Ryan Ulrich took over on the mound to face Eric White. White hit a sac fly to left scoring Petrucci. Arcadia went back to the bullpen and brought in Chris Keesser who got a strikeout to end the inning with the Knights clinging to a 4-3 lead.
