CONWAY, Ark. – No. 7 Birmingham-Southern baseball scored eight unanswered runs to come back and defeat Hendrix College 8-7 in game one of the Southern Athletic Association doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The Panthers (18-5, 7-1 SAA) then shutout Hendrix to win game two 3-0 off the arm of Stephen Himic (Birmingham, Ala./Indian Springs HS), who went a full seven innings and didn't walk a single one of the 29 batters he faced.
This was Himic's third complete game of the season and second shutout. He is 6-0 on the year. A.J. Hunt (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) led the team offensively. He hit .714 on the day with five hits and two runs. Will Toner (Atlanta, Ga./Marist HS) went 3-for-5 including a triple with one run and two RBI.
Rich Misischia (Dothan, Ala./Regis HS) earned the game one win after going two innings and striking out two.
The series concludes on Sunday, March 26. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
