KING'S BASEBALL TEAM POSTS SEASON-HIGH OFFENSIVE OUTPUT IN 25-5 VICTORY OVER DELAWARE VALLEY

DOYLESTOWN -- The King's College baseball team banged out 27 base hits and scored early and often as the Monarchs posted a 25-5 Freedom Conference victory Sunday in Doylestown.

With the win, King's improved to 7-6 overall and captured the season series over the Aggies 2-1. Delaware Valley, meanwhile, slipped to 6-4.

King's exploded for eight runs in the game's first at-bats as the Monarchs registered four straight hits to start the inning Chris Rebar, Kyle Lupas and Christian Pack delivered RBI singles to give the Monarchs a 3-0 lead. After an Aggie error allowed two runs to score, Kyle Friebolin stroked a two-run single up the middle to push the score to 7-0. Rebar later added his second run-scoring single of the inning to make it an 8-0 game.

King's added four runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 12-0. After Rebar singled, Bruce Breithaupt smacked a RBI single and Lupas followed with a base hot to stretch the score to 10-0. After Lupas moved to second on a wild pitch, Dan Hartson came through with a RBI single.  Pack then singled to right field, advancing Hartson to third base and Tom Gibbons then lofted a sacrifice fly to center to plate Hartson for the Monarchs 12th run of the game.

The Monarchs offensive assault continued with eight more runs in the fifth to push the score to 20-0. LupasBreithaupt, Rebar, and Friebolin all had run-scoring doubles while Gibbons also posted a two-base hit in the frame.

King's tacked on three more runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to built a 25-0 lead before Delaware Valley scored all five of its runs in the eighth.

For King's, it was the most runs the Monarchs in a game since scoring 26 runs twice in 2012 in games against Wilkes University and Baptist Bible College.

Rebar led King's offensively by going 5-for-6 with five RBI, four runs scored, and two doubles. Breithaupt was also 5-for-6 with three runs, two RBI, a double, and triple. Lupas finished 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and a double while Hartson was 4-for-7 with three runs and a RBI. Friebolin went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a double while Pack was 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Billy Neill was the winning pitcher for King's, going six scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out eight batters. 

King's is next scheduled to travel to Scranton on Wednesday to face Marywood University at 4:00 PM.
