Rams defeat Bison, 5-4

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - The Nichols College baseball team fell to Framingham State 5-4 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.
 
Freshman Christopher Cerniglia (Monroe, N.J.) paced the Bison at the plate – going 2-for-5 with an RBI. Freshman Christian Naccari(Ossining, N.Y.) scored a pair of runs while picking up one hit and walking twice.
 
The Rams saw two hits from a trio of student-athletes – including sophomores Aaron Williams (Brockton, Mass.) and Jordan Pallazola (Rockport, Mass.) and senior Manny Powers (Malden, Mass.). Williams also scored a pair of runs in the game.
 
The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning when the Rams rattled off four runs over the next two frames – including a RBI-double by senior Ryan Wardwell (Hudson, Mass.) to open the scoring. Wardwell finished with a pair of RBI's in the game.
 
Sophomore Danny Hayden (East Greenwich, R.I.) took her first blemish on the season after allowing four runs (three earned) through five innings of work on eight hits while striking out seven.
 
Junior Al Wallach (Nahant, Mass.) moves to 4-0 on the year after allowing only one run on four hits while striking out a pair of Bison through five innings of duty. Sophomore Michael Raymond (Peabody, Mass.) earned the save after tossing a scoreless ninth.
 
All-Time Series
This is the first win for the Rams in the series in two seasons but the Bison still lead in the all-time series, 11-8.
