BOSTON, Mass. – A Nick Herzog (Riverhead, N.Y.) two run single in the bottom of the fourth inning gave the Beacons their second lead of the day as the went on to earn a 5-2 win over Westfield State University Wednesday evening at Monan Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a costly error gave Westfield State a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning, Herzog ripped the two-run single to right center to make 3-2 Beacons. From there UMB tacked on their fourth run on an RBI single by Josh Lopez (New Haven, Conn.) in the sixth, before clinching the win in the seventh with a Chris Fowler (Barnstable, Mass.) also recording an RBI single.
The five runs on seven hits was more than enough for the Beacons, as senior righty Matt Tulley (Lowell, Mass.) went a solid six complete innings to earn his second win of the year. Tulley struck out seven and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits. JT Morin (Wilton, Conn.) was just as impressive as he did not allow a hit during his two innings of work. Bobby Tramondozzi (Peabody, Mass.) collected his second save of the year, after tallying a pair of K's in the ninth inning.
Fowler led the Beacons at the plate with a 2-for-4 showing which included his lone RBI and a run scored. Anthony Searles (Shelton, Conn.) who was the hero in Saturday's walk-off win over Suffolk, ripped his second in as many games to finish 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Nate Barnes was handed the loss after going just 5.2 innings. He allowed three walks and four runs, all earned, on six hits. He did manage four strikeouts as he fell to 1-2 on the year.
