SCRANTON -- The King's College baseball team used a six-run second inning to build a 7-0 lead and never looked back as the Monarchs posted an 11-1 victory over host Marywood University Thursday in Scranton. The game was called in the bottom of the sixth inning due to darkness.

With the win King's improved to 8-6 while Marywood slipped to 5-8.

King's took a 1-0 first inning lead when Chris Rebar cracked a solo home run, his third of he season, over the right field fence.

In the second inning Tom Gibbons doubled and Shawn Stone singled to right center to plate Gibbons and push the score to 2-0. After Sean McKee singled, Rebar followed with a single up the middle to load the bases. Kyle Lupas then stroked a three-run double to right field to stretch the King's lead to 5-0. After a walk to Dan Hartson, Christian Pack delivered a two-run double to right-center to push the Monarch advantage to 7-0.

After Marywood scored in the bottom of the third inning, King's countered with a run on the fourth.

In the fifth, Pack led off the inning with a single, Brad Wilkins reached base on a fielder's choice to give the Monarchs runners at first-and-second with one out. Stone poked a single into left-field to bring in Pack and give King's a 8-1 lead.

In the sixth, King's tacked on the final three runs of the game. Lupas doubled and Pack reached base on an error and then moved to second on a stolen base.  Wilkins then reached base on an infield error, allowing both Lupas and Pack to score and stretch the score to 11-1.

Lupas was 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI while Stone finished 3-for-4 while knocking in three runs. Rebar was 2-for-4 with two runs and a solo home run while Pack was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and two RBI. Gibbons and McKee chipped in with two hits each.
