The Cardinals slide to 4-11 overall and 0-5 in the league, while the Lakers, qualifiers of the last two NCAA Tournaments, are 16-6 and 7-1. Oswego State's rankings are according to the latest American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)/D3baseball.com national polls.

Plattsburgh State sophomore Patrick Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches/Hofstra) went 3-for-4 in the opener, while freshmen Stephen Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) and Keller Kowalowski (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown Central) both walked. Sophomore Matt Fox (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) allowed six runs on nine hits in four innings for the loss. Junior Mitch Crispens (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) and freshmen Connor Lyons (Brookhaven, N.Y./Bellport) and Brantley Marion (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown Central) each tossed scoreless frames in relief.

Oswego State churned out 12 hits and was led by senior Eric Hamilton, who doubled three times, walking once, drove in a run and stole a base. Classmates Zach Kollar and Wes Randall and juniors John Barnes and Eli Holton all had two hits, with Kollar and Randall both providing two RBIs. Freshman Lukas Olsson walked three times and junior Kyle Dinges walked twice and scored a run. Junior Mitchell Cavanagh surrendered just two hits and struck out six batters in six scoreless innings for the win. Senior Andrew Morano and juniors Patrick Gosney and Brad Wroblewski all threw one relief inning and combined for one hit allowed to preserve the shutout.

The Lakers scored twice in the second, third and fourth innings to jump out to a 6-0 lead. Randell started the scoring with a two-run single in the second and Kollar followed the next inning with his own two-run base knock. In the fourth, Hamilton clubbed an RBI double and Barnes chipped in an RBI single to right field for the team's sixth run. A wild pitch in the seventh inning plated Holton for the Lakers' seventh and final run. Plattsburgh State had four base runners reach scoring position.

Patrick Bryant, Clark and senior T.J. Montalbano (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West/Jefferson CC) each singled in game two's seven-inning affair for Plattsburgh State. Montalbano now has 98 career hits. Patrick Bryant yielded two runs on five hits in five innings for the loss and Mori threw a scoreless frame in relief.

Hamilton went 2-for-3 with an RBI single for the hosts and junior Robert Donnelly also provided an RBI base hit. Kollar singled, walked and stole two bases and senior Tim Cronin fired a complete-game three-hit shutout with six strikeouts.

Oswego scored its first run on Donnelly's two-out RBI single that brought home senior Kyle Simmons. The Cardinals picked up fourth-inning hits on Montalbano's and Bryant's knocks but back-to-back outs stranded the runners. Oswego manufactured a run in the fifth to lead, 2-0, capped by Hamilton's two-out RBI single through the left side.

Plattsburgh State closes out the series at Oswego State with a 12 p.m. game on Tuesday.
