DOVER, Del. – Four home runs provided the spark for the Wesley College baseball team to notch a 13-4 victory over the St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawks on Wednesday to sweep the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) series.

Wesley tallied 16 hits and scored in every inning but the third.

After St. Mary's scored on a Wesley error in the first inning, Wesley responded with four runs in the bottom of the first. Mike Calvarese hit a single up to middle to score Trey Mears from third to tie the ballgame at one. Aaron Briggs then followed with a three-run shot to left field to give Wesley to 4-1 lead.

In the second inning, Mears hit a sacrifice fly to left field to plate Deshawn Aiken to make it a 5-1 game in favor of Wesley.

Solo home runs by Will Barton in the fourth and Mike Calvarese in the fifth and a RBI infield single in the fifth inning by Mears gave Wesley the 8-1 lead.

St. Mary's got a run across in the sixth but Wesley answered when Chris Seibert came around to score from second on a RBI double by Briggs.

Wesley plated three runs in the seventh when Cody Dmiterchik doubled down the left field line to score Barton. Seibet then plated Dmiterchik with a double of his own. Calvarese knocked a RBI single to right field to allow Seibert to score.

Mears smashed his first home run of the season and Wesley's fourth of the game in the eighth inning on a solo bomb to left center field.

Alex Marrs picked up his CAC-leading seventh win of the season on eight quality innings of work. Marrs struck out five Seahawks and only allowed six hits and four runs (two earned). Connor Springsteen pitched a clean ninth frame.

Mears, Briggs, Barton and Calvarese each homered for Wesley. Mears, Calvarese and Dmiterchik tallied three hits apiece in the win while Mears and Calvarese each brought home three runs. Briggs went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored.

The Wolverines (16-11, 8-8 CAC) will step out of CAC play to host the Susquehanna Riverhawks on Thursday at 4 p.m.
