No. 3 UW-Whitewater Rides Power Surge to Victory

The No. 1/3 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team mashed eight home runs Tuesday afternoon en route to a 21-4 victory in seven innings over Milwaukee School of Engineering in a non-conference affair at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium.

The Warhawks (21-3 overall), who flirted with the school record of 10 home runs (set in 1995), registered 16 hits in the contest. The team scored four runs in the first, six in the fourth, four in the fifth and seven in the sixth to post the most in one game since April 22, 2015, when it scored 20 against UW-Stevens Point.

The game was called after seven innings by agreement of both teams due to run rule.

Five pitchers combined to throw for UW-Whitewater. Senior left-hander Ankur Shah started and earned the win to improve to 4-0 on the year. Junior Austin Jones, sophomore Sam Heilenbach, junior Heath Renz and sophomore Michael Kaska all pitched in relief.

Senior infielder Steve Chamberlain and junior right fielder Brett Krause each hit two home runs and knocked in four runs apiece to lead the offensive outburst. Sophomore designated hitter Kevin White and freshman left fielder Noah Jensen each hit a three-run homer.

Junior centerfielder Daytona Bryden finished 2-for-4, including one home run, with four runs scored and three RBI. Sophomore third baseman Cal Aldridge collected two hits, including a solo homer, three runs scored and one RBI.

Sophomore left fielder Matt Wary and sophomore catcher Mike Aiello also plated runs for the Warhawks.

UW-Whitewater takes its five-game winning streak on the road this weekend for a four-game series at UW-Stevens Point. First pitch of Saturday's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader is slated for 12 p.m.
