(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College baseball team defeated Heidelberg University, 10-5, today (Tuesday, April 25, 2017) in a non-conference game at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 23-7 and with the loss, the Student Princes fall to 16-16.

The Saints scored one in the first, six in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the eighth and held Heidelberg to one run in the second, two in the fifth and two in the sixth for the 10-5 victory.  Sophomore pitcher Ethan Kramer (Sunman, Ind./East Central) earned the win as he pitched five and two-third innings and gave up five runs (all earned) on eight hits and struck out two.  Junior pitcher Noah Frantz (Crestwood, Ky./South Oldham) pitched two and a third shutout innings in relief and gave one hit, while striking out two.  Senior pitcher Ken Ruberg (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) pitched a scoreless ninth and didn't allow a hit.

Thomas More had 10 hits in the game and had two Saints with multiple hits.  Junior second baseman Ben Laumann (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was three-for-five with a home run, a run scored and a run batted-in and senior right fielder Ben Kenning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder)was two-for-three with two runs scored and a RBI.  Senior center fielder Casey Metzger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was one-for-four with a home run, two runs scored and one RBI.

The Saints return to action tomorrow when they host Grove City College in a single nine-inning game at 2 p.m. at Thomas More Field.
