La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College overcame four errors and six unearned runs to defeat visiting  Wilkes University in a non-conference baseball tilt on Wednesday at Christy Mathewson Field.  The Giants, who have now won 10 of their last 11 games, improve to 23-9 on the season while dropping the Colonels to 10-20 on the spring. 
 
Wilkes took a 1-0 lead in their first at-bats of Wednesday's game on an RBI double to right center from Joshua Slocum.
 
Keystone answered in the bottom half of the inning as Brady Barr (Bowie, Md./Bowie) connected on a two-run double to left center before coming home on a single through the left side from Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) to give the Giants a 3-1 lead.  Austin Chaszar (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown Regional) followed with a RBI base hit to center to push the host's advantage to three runs.
 
Keystone extended its lead to 6-1in the second inning when Brendan Long (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) lined a two-run home run over the left field fence.
 
The Colonels got a run back by taking advantage of an error by the Giants in the visitor's third to make it a 6-2 ballgame, but Keystone got the run back in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI single from Chaszar to restore its five-run cushion.
 
Slocum hit a three-run home run over the left field fence with two outs in the seventh inning to cut the visitor's deficit to 7-5.
 
In the top of the eighth inning, Jack Fischer singled through the right side of Keystone's infield to make it a one-run contest before Kelly made a nice running catch in foul territory to leave the bases loaded and keep the Giants' lead at 7-6.
 
The hosts added four insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.  Anthony Ferrezza (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) drove in Tony Hunter II (Savannah, Ga./South Effingham) with a triple before coming home on a throwing error on the play.  Kelly hit an RBI double down the left field line before Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) came home on a wild pitch to give Keystone an 11-6 leading heading into the ninth inning, where Troy Terzi (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame ) got a double play followed by a weak groundout to end the game.
 
Billy Nelson (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) pitched five innings, yielding a pair of unearned runs on four hits while striking out six batters to pick up the win to boost his record to 5-1 on the spring.  Pat Meagher (Wall Township, N.J./Wall) was charged with three unearned runs on four hits while picking up one K in two innings of work before handing the ball off to Tyler Widitz (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg), who gave up an unearned run on two hits while fanning a pair of batters.   
 
Ferrezza, Long, Kelly, and Chaszar had three hits apiece for the Giants, who outhit the Colonels by a 14-10 margin on the day.  Long, Barr, and Chaszar drove in two runs apiece while Ferrezza and Barr scored three times apiece.
 
Wilkes starter Matt Amaral was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs on 11 hits while striking out three batters over five innings before the Colonels turned to the bullpen with three pitchers combining to pitch the final three innings for the visitors.
 
Fischer led Wilkes with three hits while Slocum drove in a game-high four runs in the loss.
 
Keystone will open an important Colonial States Athletic Conference weekend series on Friday with a single game against Neumann University starting at 3:00 p.m. in La Plume.  The Giants and Knights will close out the series on Saturday with a doubleheader in Aston, Pennsylvania.
