ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team erupted for season-bests in runs scored and hits on Wednesday afternoon, as the Bombers routed SUNY Oneonta, 19-3, on 22 hits at the Red Dragon Baseball Field. Ithaca is now 21-9 on the season, while Oneonta is 14-17.

The Bombers nearly matched their season-high for runs (14) in the first inning, as they  scored 13 times on 11 hits.  After a lead-off groundout, the next 11 Bombers reached base to account for 10 runs.  The final three runs of the frame crossed home on a double by sophomore Bailey and a two-run base hit from sophomore Adam Gallagher.

Sophomore Sam Little drove in the first run of the afternoon with a single to right field that brought in fellow sophomore Webb Little. Senior Ryan Henchey followed with a base hit to push home classmate Trevor Thompson, and the Bailey and Gallagher stroked back-to-back singles to bring in two more runs.

Sophomore Matt Carey put the Bombers up by a 6-0 count with a two-run single after a walk to junior Domenic Boresta. Bailey and Gallagher scored on the hit. Sophomore Josh Savacool then ripped a double to bring in two more runs, and then consecutive run-scoring singles from W. Little and Thompson gave Ithaca a 10-0 advantage.

Ithaca added another run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly from Thompson, and then Oneonta got on the board in the bottom of the second with two runs on four hits to make the score 14-2.

Carey got a run back for the Bombers in the third inning with an RBI single after Bailey led off the frame with a triple to the gap.

The Red Dragons pushed their third run across in the fifth inning, but Ithaca closed things out with a run in the eighth and three more in the ninth to account for the 19-3 final.

Freshman Ben Kutler drove in the run in the eighth on a fielder's choice, while fellow freshman Andrew Wollner picked up an RBI base hit in the ninth. Carey brought home the final run of the afternoon on a sac fly that scored Wollner.

Twelve different Bombers recorded a hit in the game, while 10 drove in at least one run.

S. Little, W. Little, Bailey and Carey all had three-hit days at the plate, while Carey drove in a team-best four runs. Gallagher and senior Ryan Dougherty each had two hits apiece, while Thompson and Savacool both drove in two runs.

Senior Logan Barer earned the start and picked up his first win of the season in 4.2 innings pitched with a pair of strikeouts. Barer surrendered three runs on five hits before giving way to sophomore Zach Zottola, who tossed 2.1 innings in relief. Freshman Christian LaLomia tossed the final two scoreless innings for Ithaca.

The Bombers will head to Cortland to take on the nationally ranked No. 8 Red Dragons tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m.
