PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | The New Jersey City University baseball team added two more impressive road wins to its ever-growing 2017 resume.  Freshman left fielder Bill Feehan (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro) (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) smashed his first career home run and walked five times and junior first baseman Dan Berardi (Bridgewater, NJ/Middlesex) (Bridgewater, N.J./Middlesex) homered in game two while closing within one hit of 100 as the Gothic Knights swept Skyline Conference wins leader St. Joseph's College (LI), 8-3 and 6-3, in a Wednesday night non-conference doubleheader on April 26.

NJCU, coming off a road win on April 23 at No. 11/13 ranked TCNJ, and winners earlier this month over then No. 25/25 Kean, upset a Golden Eagles team that received four points in this week's D3baseball.com Top 25 rankings, equivalent to a No. 39 national listing.

The Gothic Knights are now within one game of .500 overall at 15-16 and have won three straight and four of their last five. Meanwhile, SJCLI, which is 13-3 in the Skyline Conference—two more wins than any other school—fell to 21-12 overall. The Eagles were 10-3 at Gregg Alfano field before falling twice on their home turf.

Feehan amassed a ridiculous .889 on-base percentage in the doubleheader, batting 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBIs and five walks. Meanwhile, senior second baseman Jeff Reinecke (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) was equally impressive, batting 5-for-6 (.833) with a walk and two runs.

Senior right fielder Joe Coutinho (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) was 3-for-6 with three RBIs and two runs in the two games while Berardi had his 97th, 98th and 99th career hits, batting 3-for-7 with three runs, two RBIs and his fourth homer of the season.

It was a good day to be a sophomore pitcher for the Knights. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Nate Facey (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) and sophomore left-handed pitchers Anthony Zicaro (Linden, NJ/Linden) (Linden, N.J./Linden) each won their second games of the season while sophomore righty Corey Nase (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) and sophomore lefty Kyle Kafer (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown) (Bordentown, N.J./Bordentown) saved the two games.
