Providence, R.I.—Senior pitcher Stewart Braman (Middletown, RI) hurled a complete game, two-hitter to lead Rhode Island College past Brandeis, 2-1, at Anchorman Field on Sunday afternoon.

RIC (16-16) honored its senior class prior to the game as left fielder Austin Barry (North Kingstown, RI), Braman, catcher Nate Cahoone (Westerly, RI), second baseman Scott Linnane (North Kingstown, RI), pitcher Jake Murray (Middletown, RI), catcher/pitcher Jake Roy (Seekonk, MA) and pitcher PJ Watson (Cheshire, CT) were all recognized prior to the game along with their families.

The Judges (5-20) wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard as senior center fielder Ryan Tettemer (Westfield, MA) led off with a double, stole third and scored on freshman left fielder Dan O'Leary's (Lynnfield, MA) RBI groundout.

Brandeis kept RIC off the scoreboard until the bottom of the eighth when sophomore third baseman Mike Webb (Pawtucket, RI) got the offense moving with a one out single. Webb promptly stole second and them came home on junior first baseman Frank Pettinato (Cranston, RI) double. Cahoone then brought in Pettinato with what proved to be the game-winner with a single to left field.

Braman picked up the win (2-0), allowing just one run on two hits, to go along with a career-high nine strikeouts, in his first career complete game.

Brandeis senior reliever Liam Coughlin (Townsend, MA) took the loss (1-5), allowing two runs on five hits in three innings.

Pettinato went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Anchormen.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East Conference action at Plymouth State on Friday, May 5 (noon).
