OBERLIN, Ohio--  The Allegheny College baseball team split a crucial North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) doubleheader at Oberlin College Sunday (April 30).
  
The Gators dropped game one 4-2 but bounced back for a 10-5 win in ten innings in game two.
  
The game two victory for the Gators marked the 200th career win for Gator Head Coach Kelly Swiney.  Coach Swiney, in his ninth season at the helm of the program, reached the milestone in 339 games.  
  
GAME ONE-- Oberlin 4, Allegheny 2
 
Cullen Flaherty led off the game with a single to center field, but was left stranded on second to end the inning.
  
The first three Yeomen batters singled to load the bases.  The Gators were able to get a force out at home for out one before Quinn Butler hit a sacrifice fly, scoring the game's first run.  However, that was the only damage done as Corey Keenan forced a pair of groundouts to end the inning.
  
Similar to the first inning, the Gators led off with a single to center field as Ethan Pawlak tallied the hit.    Pawlak was out on the next play as Shea Beaumont hit into a fielder's choice.  With two outs, Vincent Carone singled to right field but Oberlin was able to get out of the jam. 
 
Mike Masella led off the bottom of the second by earning a walk.  After moving to second on a wild pitch, Amari Newman brought him home to bring the lead to 2-0 in favor of the Yeomen.  
  
For the third straight inning, the Gators led off by getting to first safely as Flaherty earned walk.  Andrew Dawson, the next batter, also earned a walk to put runners at first and second.  Robert DiMaggio earned the third straight walk on a long at-bat to load the bases with one out.  With the bases loaded, Pawlak reached on a fielder's choice but the Gators were able to take advantage of a throwing error as Flaherty and Dawson scored to tie the game at two. 
 
In the bottom of the third, the Yeomen used three hits to plate a pair of runs and regain the lead.
  
The Gators threatened in the top of the sixth.  Utilizing a pair of errors and a walk, the Gators loaded the bases with just one out.  However, the Yeomen were able to escape the inning unscathed.
  
The score remained the same heading into the ninth inning, but the Gators were not able to overcome the two-run deficit in the frame as they fell in game one.
 
Flaherty led the Gators with a pair of hits and a run.  Pawlak's hit brought a run across.Beaumont and Carone also had hits while Dawson scored the Gators' other run. 
 
Keenan pitched the full eight innings for the Gators, striking out three.
  
GAME TWO-- Allegheny 10, Oberlin 5 (10 innings)
 
Flaherty earned a walk to lead off of the game, and advanced to second on a sac bunt by Dawson.  DiMaggio followed up by smacking a single through the right side, bringing Flaherty around for the first run of the game.
  
In the bottom of the third, the Yeomen tied the game at one on a RBI double.
  
The Gators regained the lead in the top of the fifth.  Austin Bristol got on base via walk with one out.  After a Flaherty single to center field, Dawson singled through the right side, scoring Bristol.  
  
In the top of the seventh, Bristol was walked once again to lead off.  With one out, Dawson drove a shot down the right field line, scoring Bristol from first as he took third on the throw.  DiMaggio followed up by hitting a sac fly, scoring Dawson and making it 4-1. 
 
The Yeomen battled back in the bottom of the frame.  Off of five hits, including a solo homerun by Brian Carney, the Yeomen scored four runs to take a 5-4 lead. 
 
In the top of the eighth, Brandon Pouch earned a two out walk, followed by Carone reaching safely via error to put runners at first and second.  However, Oberlin was able to force a groundout for out three, stranding the Gator runners.

Flaherty earned a walk to lead off the top of the ninth, and moved to second on a sac bunt by Dawson.  After a groundout, Jacob Shick smacked a ball through the left side, bringing Flaherty around from second to tie the game at five.
  
The Yeomen were able to put on aboard in the ninth on an error, and advanced the runner to third with two outs.  Facing a full count, Gator reliever Travis Neamon caught Ian Dinsmore swinging, sending the game into extra innings.
  
Pouch had his third hit of the game as he singled with one out in the tenth.  With two outs, Bristol reached on an error, putting runners on the corner.  Flaherty was walked once again, loading the bases for the Gators for Dawson.  Facing a full count, Dawson was hit by an inside pitch, bringing Pouch in for the go-ahead run.  DiMaggio kept the offense rolling, singling through the left side, bringing both Flaherty and Bristol around to make it 8-5.  Shick then doubled down the left field line, bringing Dawson and DiMaggio home to extend the lead to 10-5.
 
The Yeomen threatened in the bottom of the 10th as they loaded the bases with two outs.  Patrick Orr came in for the save, forcing a lineout to seal the pivotal win.
Pouch led the Gators at the plate, going three-of-four with a run.  Bristol went one-of-three but came across the plate three times.  DiMaggio had two hits and a game-high four RBI.  Dawson and Shick had three RBi apiece on two hits.  
 
Neamon earned the win in relief for the Gators.  He went 2.2 innings, giving up two hits while striking out three.  Orr earned the save for the Gators.
  
Chase Boyer got the start on the mound for the Gators.  In six innings, he allowed four runs on six hits while striking out six batters.
 
The Gators are back in action Monday (May 1) for the series conclusion at Oberlin.
